Understanding the ‘Allah’ controversy - The Star Online

http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2010/1/19/focus/5482681&sec=focus

" It is pretty clear that the issue revolves around the use of the term “Allah,” as it has been understood and used by the Malays in particular to translate the word “God,” as used particularly in the Bible and as understood by the Christians.

The issue as such pertains to the problem of correct translation and is thus primarily an issue of the correct usage of a language – in this case, the Malay language in relation to the English language and, as Islam is also central to the discussion, the Arabic language.

Comes then the next question: What kind of a term is the word “Allah,” on the one hand, and the word “God” as used in English in relation to the Bible on the other hand?

It is obvious that with regard to the way the Malays have been using the term “Allah” in accordance with what Islam has taught them, it is the “proper name” for the one and only god with all the names and attributes necessary and proper for him and, just like any other proper name, it cannot be translated but rather should be basically maintained as such.

Hence, the sentence “Mr Bush used to be the President of the United States of America,” in correct Malay translation, is very likely to be Encik Bush pernah menjadi Presiden Amerika Syarikat” and not “Encik Belukar pernah menjadi Presiden Amerika Syarikat”.

On that ground, therefore, one is fully justified to query whether it is correct to translate the respective proper name in the original Bible, if there is any, as “Allah”, let alone if the name concerned is actually merely an appellative noun or a title or, worse still, a general noun. "

Sunday... BoringDay!

Aih... Stayed in my room/hostel 4 nearly 1 whole day!
So boring... nothing to do.
Woke up at 9 in de morning... then study programmin cuz Monday having test zzz!!
No one even ask me whether i want to go out, or have lunch or tapau for me.
So i didn't have my lunch at all... and also nvr take my dinner yesterday...
And also today's dinner...

But nvm... just 7 more sems to go!

I did something crazy today to cure my moodiness. Hehe guess wad i did? :P

I drove to a place 90km away... By right if i drive 100km/h i should reach in 54 mins time... but i took nearly 1 hour n 40 mins! Cuz right after Tebrau City's Jusco, the road converge n become a single lane! Seems like an ENDLESS road!!
When i finally reach there, the sky turns dark n since Johor is quite a dangerous state, i just U-turn n drove back. On the way back, the road is still single lane with no streetlights!! I'm basically driving in the darkness and the only thing i see is the light from vehicles. Haha! quite fun actually XD.
Next time i must visit de place with the presence of sunlight! Well... dono when only will go there again with frens. Hehe.

The place i drove to is actually Desaru! Damn, i miss the beach, the sand, the wind and the sunlight!

Thanks to the equation,
Driving + Beach = Happy
I'm in good mood now, but is just a matter of time when my emo-ness strikes back!

Haha :) miss YOU all!!
Hopefully able to catch you all during CNY break!

Emotional Downfall

Suddenly feel moody... Feel like this world suddenly mean nothing to me.

Nothing significant,
Nothing to hold on to,
Nothing to fight for,
Nothing make any sense,
Nothing really matters.

In just a blink of an eye, joy turn to emptiness, emptiness turn meaningless.

Well... there's nothing i can do now, except chill off somewhere or until there's a turn of event.

Wanna drive, but cannot get out of the campus.
Wanna have a can of beer, but there's none.
Wanna sleep, but not sleepy.

OK. End of this meaningless post. Hope tomorrow will be a better day!
To me, To everyone.

2009 Working Memories :)

Well. This is basically what happen in 2009 in my 19th year of my life! My working life!

The view from the Olympia Tower in Jln Raja Chulan, KL which i undergo training for about 2 weeks!

The place where i worked for nearly 3 weeks while waiting for local university enrollment.

Where i usually have my 'tapau-ed' lunch.

Everything looks small from above KLCC!

A clear day with clear blue sky in the city with noticeable amount of skyscrapers!
